RULES OF GOLF CLARIFICATION

The 2019 worldwide review of The Rules of Golf put forward several changes to the Rules, most of these were accepted by the R&A and put into play.

One of these suggestions:

That if a ball is lost the player has the option to drop a replacement ball on the fairway adjacent to the area where the ball is deemed to be lost, under a two-stroke penalty.

THE R&A, IN CONJUNCTION WITH CONGU (THE UK HANDICAPPING AUTHORITY) DECIDED NOT TO ALLOW THIS RULE CHANGE FOR COMPETITIVE GOLF (HANDICAP QUALIFYING COMPETITIONS) BUT WOULD ALLOW CLUBS TO CREATE A LOCAL RULE FOR NON-QUALIFYING GOLF.

THE BLANKNEY GOLF CLUB COMMITTEE DID NOT OP TO HAVE THIS LOCAL RULE.

THEREFORE, IF YOU LOSE A BALL PLAYING AT BLANKNEY, YOUR ONLY OPTIONS ARE TO PLAY ANOTHER BALL FROM WHERE YOU LAST PLAYED YOUR LOST BALL, UNDER A ONE STROKE PENALTY OR TO FORFEIT THE HOLE.
