Thank you to all who entered this weeks competitions, your support is appreciated.

Congratulations to Liam Hargrave & Luke Jones who were worthy winners of the Robert Pearson Gents Open with a great score of 45 pts beating Russ Burgess and his guest N Vickers into second place also on a magnificent 45 pts, being beaten by a BB9 of 22 pts.  There were some very respectable scores throughout the day and as always a full list of prize winners is available for all to see in the Members section of the Club Website.

All winners from this weekend will receive High Street vouchers, however, due to most winners being Blankney Club Members, if you would rather spend your money in the Pro Shop please let Diane know through the Club Office.  If you choose this option, please be aware you will need to spend your winnings before September 15th so Graham can balance his books prior to his retirement.

Congratulations to Steven Dickinson for winning Friday's Stableford Competition beating David Taylor into second place.  Well played Gents.

The sheet is on the main notice board for next Sundays Club Am-Am which is available for all members to enter.  The Presidents Cup is open for entries on V1 and the Lincolnshire Bomber Open is still open for entries through Diane in the Club Office.

The Midweek Stableford on 10th September is cancelled and I will arrange an additional one later in the month.

Have a good week and good luck to Graham and his Swingers who are out and about on the fairways of Lincolnshire, hope the weather is kind.

Cheers, Paul

Bramley Trophy and future Competitions

Gents,

Congratulations and well done to Blankney Golf Club Bramley Team which consisted of Lee Johnson, Sam Moyses and Craig Toyne.

Lee, Sam & Craig represented the Club in the Final of the Bramley Trophy hosted by Seacroft Golf Club on Sunday 22nd August 2021.  The 3 finalists were Blankney, Spalding & Woodhall Spa Golf Clubs and the format was a 3 way match play which was fiercly contested throughout by all the Teams.  Spalding Golf Club were the favourites on paper, fielding an extremely strong Team with a combined handicap of +12 and unfortunately they transferred their form to the course and lifted the Bramley Trophy running out deserved winners, playing some fantastic golf, well done and congratulations Spalding Golf Club.  The Blankney Team also played some excellent golf and finished gallant runners up beating Woodhall who took 3rd place, well done Gents, you did Blankney Golf Club proud.

It is also fair to say, Blankney Golf Club showed the way these prestigious competitions should be played and the players were supported by their Caddies, Robbie, Nev & Archie and by supporters from Blankney Golf Club who attended to watch proceedings throughout the day.

This was noticed and appreciated by the organisers of LUGC who mentioned this in their speeches and our Club Captain, Kevin O'Rourke got a special mention for being in attendance throughout the day supporting Blankney Golf Club and the event in general.  Spalding Golf Club also commended him on this point and apologised for their Club Captain not being present at one of the LUGC Major Team events, however, they did state he was playing in a Mixed Match......

Again, great effort Gents, you should be all proud of your achievements.

There is still time to enter this weeks competition, The Robert Pearson Cup Open, Sunday 29th August 2021 which is a Pairs Betterball Stableford.  All entries must be made through Diane in the Office and paid for in advance.  The cost is £10 per member & £20 for Visitors.

The Club Am-Am entry sheet has been posted on the Clubs Main Notice Board in the Foyer.  The cost for this competition is £20 per Team and the Teams can be made up of any combination of Blankney Golf Club Members.

Thank you for your continued support in the Club Competitions, it is greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Paul

Donegan Cup Mixed Open Sunday 15th August 2021

Dear all,

Thank you to all who entered the Donegan Cup Mixed Open held on Sunday 15th August 2021.  It was pleasing to hear all of the players complimenting the course and enjoying the day, regardless of how they'd played.  Thanks to John and the Green Staff for their efforts in keeping the course in such great condition which is testament to their hard work and dedication.  Thanks also to Tracey, Julie and Jade who provided refreshments to the golfers throughout the day, exemplary service as usual from the Team.

The winners with 97 points were:  P Woodcock, Y Woodcock, R Lugsdin & P Lugsdin from Woodhall with 97 points.

2nd place went to S Smith, M Hope, D Winterbottom & M Kettlewell with a score of 96 points, great effort, well played.

3rd place went to P Edwards, A Edwards, S Martin & Z Martin from Sudbrook Manor, also with a score of 96 points and were beaten by a BB9

4th place went to J Wood, A Wood, N Day & C Kelly with a score of 94 points on countback with a BB9

5th Place went to P Sirrell, C Lewis, J Palmer & R Czajkowski also with 94 points.

6th place went to the magnificent team of G Brenchley, O Brenchley, E Dowling & the Club Captain, K O'Rourke with a fabulous 93 points, well played, you are what we all aspire to be.

As previously stated, everyone appeared to enjoy the day on a course which I think you will all agree is in superb condition.  It doesn't matter which club you're a member of or where you choose to play, golf is a great leveller with no course or its members being superior to any other; indeed it's a testament to good sportsmanship when we can come together, respect our fellow golfers and their course and enjoy this wonderful game.

Be kind and look after each other.

Cheers, Paul.

Michael Parker Cross Country Challenge

Dear All

Firstly, it was very unfortunate that our Club President Michael Parker was unable to attend this event but I'm sure he would have been extremely happy with the turnout.  We pass on our thanks to him for the champagne at the turn which was very much appreciated.

The competition was fiercely contested and at the end of the 2 holes the scores were tied by 4 teams with 27 points.  The resulting play off was played from the 1st Tee to the 2nd Green with the Tee Markers strategically placed behind the tree.  3 Teams participated in the play off which was eventually won with a birdie by Paul Compton and Ray Spencer pipping Simon Smith and Matt Laws who parred the play off hole.  3rd place went to John Dempster and Tony Czajkowski, well played to all and congratulations to the worthy victors.

I'm sure you would all agree the BBQ provided was top class and we pass on our thanks to Tracy and the Team for their usual, fabulous service.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the competition and their guests for their support.  I think it's fair to say a good evening was had by all in this fun event and it was nice to see the atmosphere returning to the Club House and Beer Garden.

Cheers

Paul

Club Texas Scramble - Any Combination - Sunday 8th August 2021

Dear all,

Thank you to all who entered this weekends Club Texas Scramble (Any Combination) Sunday 8th August 2021.

Congratulations to the winning Team of:

A Craft, D Marriott, W Schofield & B Hayes who won with an impressive Nett 58, well done Gents.

The Florida Texas Scramble was a new format which was met with mixed reviews, some enjoyed it and some didn't which will unfortunately always be the case, you can never please everyone.  I appreciate all comments and am happy to take them on board and am happy to discuss initiatives and ideas to increase the numbers of golfers who wish to play in competitions.  I would, however, prefer it if people would speak to me about such matters rather than sitting in their groups moaning to each other.  Everyones opinion counts and if someone has something constructive to say, let's have a conversation to get the competitions right for the Members and the Club which is something we all want.

The next competition is the Michael Parker Cross Country Challenge, starting at 17:00 hours and this event is followed by a BBQ which is also open to non golfers.  There is still time to enter this prestigious event and entries can be made through the Pro Shop.  Non Golfers can also purchase tickets for the BBQ afterwards.  Let's make this a great social event to support our Club President, Michael Parker.

Cheers, Paul
