Club Captain Welcome

Here at Blankney we have a thriving, active membership with a well-earned reputation for showing a warm welcome to the many visitors and teams we host throughout the year and as the Club Captain for 2018 it’s both my privilege and pleasure to welcome you to Blankney Golf Club.

Blankney Golf Club was formed in 1904 and over the years has developed into one of the finest parkland courses in the region. A signature of the course is the wide variety of tree types which provide an attractive landscape setting and a continuously changing visual experience to players throughout the different seasons. The course is both challenging and rewarding for all standards of golfer; a view shared by the many returning visitors and teams we have, and is maintained to the highest quality by John Hart, the course manager and his staff.

Graham Bradley our Club Manager is an experienced and well respected professional who along with his assistant Alec Bradley provide a high quality and friendly service to members and visitors alike.

An excellent variety of beers, wines, meals and bar snacks are available in the Clubhouse ably provided by the bar manager and chef Becky Belton and their welcoming and friendly teams.

We run many competitions throughout the year with some being open to visitors.  We also play competitive league golf in the South Lincolnshire Golf League and friendly matches against many local clubs. There are also away-days and exchange days with other clubs and many other opportunities for players to enjoy a broad variety of golf throughout the golfing calendar.  We have busy and thriving Ladies and Senior’s Sections and support and encourage our juniors, with regular coaching sessions throughout the year.

This year’s Captain of the Ladies’ section is Lynda Ramscar, and the Captain of the Senior’s section is John Thompson. I wish each of them, together with my Vice Captain, Alan Grieves, a successful and enjoyable year and I look forward to working alongside and playing with them all during the year.

My chosen Charity for this year is, in conjunction with the Ladies’ Captain, Lynda, The Air Ambulance. This service provides a vital resource in this our Rural County During the year there will be various events taking place providing lots of opportunities for people to support this very worthwhile cause. To start with, should you hit your golf ball into the lake on the 2nd, I would ask that after you finish playing, you may kindly make an appropriate donation in my charity bottle, located on the club-house bar.

The club prides itself on its friendly reputation and top quality golf course, and I am sure that its members and visitors will continue to enjoy throughout my captain’s year all that Blankney Golf Club has to offer.

Personally I am looking forward to a great season of golf and social activity and hope to meet and play with many of you over the year.

I hope and trust you will all have a great year’s golf too.
