Hello and welcome to Blankney Seniors.
It is my privilege to be the Seniors Captain of Blankney Golf Club for 2013, and will welcome any new members to our section, whether it’s from any one of the existing membership who has just reached that certain age, or those that have just taken-up membership with Blankney Golf Club.
2013 will be my 40th year as a member of Blankney Golf Club and over the years I have seen many changes, even going back to when the greens had wire fencing around them to keep the sheep off. I also spent 3 ½ years working on the green staff from 2005 until I finally retired.
Blankney Seniors Section prides itself with being a strong and vibrant section of Blankney Golf Club. Members over the age of 55 have the opportunity to play in our social roll ups on Mondays and Fridays, which will include at least one qualifying competition a month, with the addition of 29 matches played home and away against other Lincolnshire clubs. One new fixture introduced to the calendar this year is a match against Woodhall Spa. There is also an exchange day with Grimsby Golf Club and an away day at South Kyme.
Most social golf is drawn such that participating players play with different senior members on each occasion, promoting a friendly and lively section.
Blankney Golf Club boasts one of the best maintained and challenging courses in Lincolnshire which is looked after extremely well by our Head Green Keeper, John Hart, and his staff of merry men who can always find time to stop and have a word. You will always be made to feel very welcome by the friendly atmosphere to be found in the clubhouse.
As the Seniors Captain for 2013, I look forward to meeting and playing with as many of you as possible during the coming year.
