Match Reports for Seniors Invitation Day 3rd Oct & Away match at Carholme

Seniors Invitation Day 3rd Oct

The Blankney Seniors Invitation day was extremely well supported with 72 seniors playing. The weather turned out to be excellent with sunshine and little wind. The halfway house was a haven for the hungry and thirsty where Olive Brenchley and her team did the seniors proud providing copious amounts of food and drink. Indeed there was so much food her husband was complaining that he would be eating sausage rolls for a month! It was a very tight match with the top four teams all coming in with 39 points only to be separated by the quality of the back nine. My thanks goes to all those who had a hand in organising this excellent day especially John Wood who seemed to have a handle on everything, well done all. Looking forward to next years Invitation.

Annual away match at Carholme

Today's away match against Carholme was a very friendly affair, the weather consisted of sunny intervals with a certain amount of breeze coming through the trees to make the golfers think. As with all courses at this time of year falling leaves can be frustrating, especially when the groundsman blows a million leaves in the direction of your ball! The course was in good condition and quite dry considering its normal dampness but the sand traps were in need of maintenance. Given that, it was an excellent day with the match ending all square.
